Mondnacht
Moonlit Night

Eichendorff

It was as if a kiss from Heaven
Had stilled the Earth;
In a shimmer of blossom
It could dream of no-one else.

A breeze passed through the fields
Playing gently on the corn,
There was a hushed rustling in the trees,
So clear and star-lit was the night.

My soul spread
Its wings out wide
And flew through the silent country
As if flying home.
