March Violets

The heavens’ arc is clear and blue,
The frost’s put a show of flowers on view.

A window makes a shimmering display;
A boy stops to admire it on his way.

Beyond the blooms, floral surprise;
A pair of deep blue smiling eyes,

March violets the like he’s never seen!
A breath would melt the frost between!

The ice-flowers now begin to thaw;
God help that young man for evermore.
